Since my blog is titled Horse & Home I thought it was about time I do a little introductory home tour. Buying a house feels like it’s in the very distant future, but my husband and I have grown quite content in our little space. I’ve tried to make it as bright and cozy as possible and at least my husband thinks I succeeded.
There are three basic areas worth sharing, the living room, kitchen and dining area and the bedroom. Our bedroom is my favorite because it has this giant window and makes the whole place so bright! Almost all the furniture is IKEA or Target except for our lovely side tables. I purchased those when we first moved out together and painted them and added new hardware myself.
The kitchen is my other favorite place to hang out. If I’m not sleeping or on my laptop, I’m cooking (or making coffee). All our fancy things like the oven, knives, ROOSTER TOWEL and Le Creusets are gifts from our wedding. I also have a cutting board obsession and the displayed ones are a little over half of my collection.
Our living room is so well used—by the dogs. JD has his toy basket in the corner next to the TV where we hung our diplomas. The sitting chair underneath is also used almost exclusively by James. Our couch solely belongs do the dogs which they remind us of every time we try to use it and they climb all over us. Luckily for us, it’s leather and takes a beating. The fireplace doesn’t work but we still hang stockings above it every Christmas! My husband has his computer workstation in the living room with the printer shelf right next to it. The dining area has enough space for a table, four chairs and most importantly, a wine shelf! Still looking for a good painting or mirror or something to go above it. I’m also currently working on attaining more plants that thrive despite humid conditions and no sun.
